It seems about time we had another linklog, seeing as we've been plucking the finest morsels of goodness out of the teeth of the internets.

We'll start off with a story, the story of a lost car.  If we were in the plagiarising mood this would make for an excellent blog entry for us, sadly we didn't get the scoop, so rather than rehash someone else story we'll give you the link to the source.  This is the story of "Orbitron Apocalypto" a lost Roth show custom that re-emerged in Mexico, the story is VERY long, but brilliant fun, set yourself aside a goof couple of hours to read it.

Staying on the other side of the Atlantic but a bit further south we head over to the Flickr account of Fabio Davini.  In it we find some great coverage of motorsports events and individual photoshoots, a photo from which is in this blog entry.  There is much to be found from this collection of images, or if you aren't that inquisitive just sit back and enjoy.

More photos now, a little closer to home in Sweden we find Tobias Ohlander as is usual on sites in languages we can't understand, we head straight for the Galleri link in it we find individual photoshoots, as well as event coverage.  A great link to keep an eye on through the 2009 season.

AS is tradition, we'll leave you with a youtube video.  Today comes as a precursor to an entry that will be making its way onto here in the next few weeks :

It's the RSM Linklog 'Rmad Special' - catchy title, eh? I've been handed the retro reigns for this week as HoTWire is busy preparing his trusty Sunny for the Retro and Sportscar Action Day at Castle Combe. Let's get on with the links then, shall we?

All this talk of the South American 'rebaixados' scene has got me thinking about obscure Brazilian oddities again and one of the most iinteresting places to trawl through and learn about stuff you've never heard of is the Brazilian's ebay equivalent Mercardo Livre, our link takes you straight to the classic car section:

http://veiculos.mercadolivre.com.br/carros-antigos/

Well that passed an hour or so didn't it...Gurgels, Pumas, Saveiros and the like. Let's have another from that side of the world before we don our world explorer outfit (a rather fetching pith helmet and light khaki suit in my case) again and head off elsewhere. You don't need to be a GM afficionado for this one and you should be able to work your way around without a translator relatively easily with brochure scans, wallpapers and some great links falling to hand after a few well chosen clicks:

Time for a video I think - in Australia now, where I'm told you'll find pairs of black lines and circles up and down every street. I believe 'hooning' is the word. Well here's a top level Torana (and those Aussie's certainly build 'em clean) making some of those tell-tale tyre tracks:

Whilst we're in the mood for some stonkin' V8s and the smell of burnt rubber from down under we'll visit burnouts unlimited...

www.burnoutsunlimited.com

..which lives up to it's name admirably. It's unlikely to win any design awards but more than makes up for it with event coverage, features and pages and pages of burnout pics 'n' vids. It's horsepower heaven!

Before you all accuse me of favouring the V8 side of things from our Antipodean chums I shall redress the balance with the awesome publicatation known as Fast Fours:

 www.fastfours.com.au

One should find plenty to entertain oneself, including some pretty interesting engine transplants.

That's all from me folks, normal service should be resumed next week.

We love the Brazilian car scene because we love two things, obscure cars and lowness.  The Brazilian car scene has both in spades!

Let’s start with this little YouTube clip

The car is taking part in a competition to see how low it is.  Of course we want to find more stuff, so we can trawl through the associated and related films.  The most useful thing that jumps out of all of them is the word "rebaixados", which as far as I can work out means lowered.

Essentially what we often refer to as Brazilian look is wrapped up by rebaixados.  Essentially cars slammed as low as you can possibly get them, from what we can work out the sills need to be as near to the floor as possible.  Wheels of choice seem to be fairly normal steels running hub caps/trim or modern style alloys.  How many of these cars are running air ride and how many are hard slam is still a question we don't have an answer to, and until we find more build up information it is going to be a mystery.  Anyone from South America able to help us out?

In the mean time drop Rebaixados into google and we're off.  A few pages of links to look through and a handy few pages of images.  By looking through the websites we find more car and more links.

To get you started though:

Watch out for the music on this first one (hit the "See More Photos" link on the left hand side); http://www.flogao.com.br/rebaixados

Let’s hope we can all find some more information about this fascinating side of our hobby.

We love a good Brazilian and these guys certainly have some very cool cars to ride around in.  Check out the Eventos & Encontros link for some great galleries of some aircooled machinery.

In the spirit of our recent post check out this selection of Tshirts with all your 80's faves on them.  I'll take a Fall Guy one thank you very much.

Here we are again with our selection of the finest links taken from all over the internet and distilled for you viewing pleasure.

http://www.cartype.com/
A great resource for logos and fonts used by car companies of all sorts and from all over the world.  It also has a great selection of photos and histories of the logos.  A great read in and of itself, even better if you are thinking of making up some stickers, doing something fun with a cars logo.

http://www.lostamerica.com/
If there is one thing we love here at RSM its an evocative photo and Lost America is full of them.  The website has been around for a while, but it is always worth checking back as their are new photos added every so often.

http://www.carbritus.com/
Its carnival time in Brazil, but we're not into their salsa and feathers*, what we love is their cars.  Head to the "Fotos" link on the left and check them out.

http://pingmag.jp/2008/01/31/decotora/
In our book recommendations we suggested you check out the book Decotora, you can see some more photographs and read an interview with the author at pingmag.

http://www.auto-sude.de/Aufbau%20170/Aufbau_Mercedes170.htm
Unless you have fluent German you aren't going to be able to read this site.  Luckily the pictures speak for themselves, a total photo log of building a Mercedes 170S into a hot rod.  We heartily approved.

*We may actually like both salsa and feathers,...
