If you've read the Classic Ford Show report from Sunday you'll have probably noticed my reference to a group of Mk1 Fiestas and that there was one that I found particulary appealing. That Fiesta is Dale Jeffs' Mk1 Sandpiper:
Obviously this is an exercise in styling rather than performance, but cars like this go to prove that there's a whole lot of fun out there to be had on a budget and that there's really no excuse to drive something boring. We asked Dale the usual set of questions so you can know a little more about the man and his machine.
Name: Dale Jeffs
Age: 20
Occupation: sales assistant
Past rides: none
Belong to any clubs?: sh*tbox racing
Favourite crisp flavour: has to be ready salted
What's in your dream garage?: MK2 4 door escort ghia in gold complete with the vinyl roof! close to the floor with some wide wheels... that would do me!
Choose one...speed or style: style
CURRENT RIDE:
Make: Ford
Model: Fiesta 1.1L Sandpiper 2
Year: 1981
Mods: Gaz coil over suspension, adjustable panard rod, strut braces, XR2 Brakes, Bestek electronic ignition, K&N, fiesta Ghia spec dash and clocks, over riders, opening quarter light windows, chrome mirror and door handles and the roof rack.

Plans: getting the body work sorted. there are a few rusty spots that need attention. then an engine conversion, not decided on what way to go.. keep it retro with the crossflow, or go for a modern zetec engine.
Thanks/shouts: to Jay Manton! always on hand for the mechanical side of things. safe to say with out him the car wouldn't be here, so yeah big thanks!
Thanks Dale!
You can catch up with Dale along with a load of other early Fiesta fanatics over on fiesta-mk1.co.uk.
Hopefully we'll be seeing the Fiesta crew down at the Haynes Museum in August for the Retro Rides Gathering.
