There has always been a tie between fashion and modified cars, sometimes it isn't strictly obvious but at other times modified car culture IS the fashion, from the rebellious hot rod image and trends through to the 80's casual look and associated boy racer cars.

Other times there is a literal tie between what you wear and what you drive, or what you aspire to drive, there are those people that get decked out head to toe in Porsche monogrammed items, or at the other end of the spectrum those with their Ed Roth designed Tshirts.

One of the more fun things that popped up over recent years is the "Scene shoe/wheel" picture.  It is a great example of how our little scene sees something and has fun with it.  To be honest I'm not sure if it was started by Ryan 'Stanton' but he was the first person I saw with the photograph, of his new wheels and his new shoes.

Some people objected to it, for some reason, others saw the fun in it.  Others emulated it.

Pretty soon the idea had established itself firmly in people’s minds to the point that the shot was being photographed even if it was accidental "Scene shoe" posing. Like these racing shoes spotted at Brands Hatch earlier this year.

Inevitably parody arose around the whole idea, the peak of which so far has been Seth Kennedy using his kid’s shoes to show off the wheels for his trailer, small wheels, small shoes.

Really it is all about showing your influences, and what else is turning you on right now. Some people show this through their sticker choices, or their chosen modifications, or their hair cut, or by a million and one different ways. Rmad has chosen to show off his love of rare trainers and dished wheels with this combo of Sportmesh XXR 8x15s and limited edition Addidas Superstar Red Hot Chilli Peppers special edition!!

All of which is a thinly veiled chance for me to show off my new shoes, we got excited about them in one of the first posts on RSM, and now I have the ultimate in retro scene shoes.  If only I had some sickeningly dished wheels to put them next to.

What you wearing while you're rolling?

I was reading through that, thinking the whole time, I'm going to comment "This is just a thinly veiled disguise for you posting your shoes on retro rides.". Damn you, for beating me to it.

Not kicks, but here's a shot of my beater with a NOS Superscope boombox from 78; still has the tags on it.. But, I do think along the same lines as you with regards to wheels and shoes. It's pretty hard to be into wheels and not be into kicks I think.
